Two Women Caught On Camera Allegedly Stealing Christmas Decorations

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Two young women were caught on camera stealing Christmas decorations off someone's front yard in West Covina, authorities said.

Homeover Tami Madison posted on Facebook the security video showing two females wearing hoodies riding up on their bikes. One of them had a black trash bag.

The two began help themselves with the yuletide ornaments. They took some candy canes and other decorations worth nearly $300.

"We looked at our security footage. That's when I actually found out they actually got away with a few things," Madison said.

Tyler Madison helped his mom, Tami, install the security-camera system. "I was surprised how nonchalantly they were just going through and picking up the items. It's kind of like they were shopping," Tyler said.

The Madisons have six security cameras all over their house. The suspects were either unaware or did not care.

"You can go down to your local Walmart. How hard is that? But no, it's easier for you to steal my decorations? If you want to steal them and put them in your yard, I will definitely know they're mine," Tami Madison said.

After being the victim of a similar crime in 2009, Tami now has a lot of her Christmas decorating items secured.

"I would love to have the red and green star shooters, but those are the No. 1 product right now being stolen," she said.

But she continues to decorate because Santa Claus stops by her home every year for the young children in her family, a tradition Tami said she will not let anyone steal.

"I just don't know how people can steal Christmas decorations. They are not going to stop me. I have too much love for Christmas," Tami said in defiance.
