Suspect Wanted In Connection With Assault, Robbery Of Arcadia Hotel Clerk

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Monday to locate a robbery suspect who assaulted a hotel clerk in Arcadia.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, officers were sent just before 2 a.m. to the Santa Anita Inn, located in the 100 block of West Huntington Drive.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported the night clerk to a hospital for treatment of lacerations to his head.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect entered the hotel lobby, forced the clerk into a back room and produced a handgun.

"The suspect struck the victim in the head with the handgun, which caused some moderate lacerations," said Lt. Tom Cullen.

According to police, the suspect also attempted to restrain the victim, but he was unsuccessful.

"The suspect left the victim and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the register on his way out of the lobby," added Cullen.

At this time, it remains unclear how the suspect fled from the scene.

Detectives described the suspect as an African American who is around 30-years-old and has a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hat or a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with black pants.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident has been urged to contact the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5151.
