Sounding Fire Alarm Briefly Interrupts Showing Of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' At The Grove

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There were tense moments Thursday night at The Grove as moviegoers feared the worst after a fire alarm was triggered.

The sounding alarm spurred the temporary evacuation of movie theaters at the popular outdoor shopping center in the Fairfax District. No fire was reported.

The incident unfolded about 8 p.m., about a third of the way into the much-anticipated premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Reaction on Twitter was immediate.

"Star Wars" fans returned to the film after the fire department gave the all-clear, but many said they were scared during the evacuation and thought of San Bernardino.

Law enforcement described the incident as an "accident."
