At 'Daybreaker,' A Dance Party To Start The Day

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — For free-spirited early risers, L.A.'s biggest party often starts before the sun comes up.

On a recent morning at 5:30 a.m., hundreds of energetic attendees arrived at a Marina del Rey warehouse for Daybreaker, a morning party and fitness event that includes a sunrise yoga session and continues with an extravagant rave-like dance party.

Of course, the youthful attendees used their smartphones to check in.

The clientele is largely "young professionals that are rocking life," said Argine Ovsepyan, an organizer of the event. "You could be next to an entrepreneur that runs three companies, which is pretty epic."

Even so, the event is anything but uptight. The dance party, in particular, has an "anything goes" feel.

"The way people dress, it creates an environment where nobody's judged, and anything goes," said Tessie Tracy, a personal trainer. "It's just an environment of love and energy and pizazz and a contagious feeling of happiness and joy and community."

Daybreaker began in New York last year but has quickly become a fixture at venues across Los Angeles.

Another attendee, Michael Haytayan, compared Daybreaker to the Burning Man festival in Nevada, "without the dust, drugs or bikes."

The idea of the event, Ovepyan said, is "to enjoy life and kinda spreading that all over."
