Police Shoot Knife-Wielding Man At Gaming Business In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding a deadly officer-involved shooting in Long Beach.

The shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Monday, located in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers were sent to the area  for report of a man with a knife near a gaming business.

Upon their arrival, authorities attempted to use non-lethal force against the armed man. However, when that did not work, officers shot the suspect.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

No officers were injured during the shooting.

Northbound lanes of Long Beach Boulevard will remain closed from Burnett to Willow until 7 a.m. due to police activity in the area.
