Couple Accused Of Firing On Park Rangers In Dana Point

DANA POINT (CBS/AP) — Orange County sheriff's officials say a man and a woman were arrested after one of them allegedly opened fire on park rangers as the couple fled a camp site and crashed their car into a fire pit.

Rene Joseph Bolduc, 41, and Teresa Nanette Kirkland, 46, were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and obstruction of justice, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.

The couple was in a car late Tuesday near Dana Point Harbor when two rangers approached to see if they had a camping permit.

Authorities say the car took off, crashing into a fire pit and overturning. The woman was arrested at the crash scene. The man was eventually found in the water by a sheriff's helicopter crew.

Lt. Jeff Hallock says the rangers reported one of the suspects shot at them during the chase. The rangers were not injured.

The suspects were hospitalized for injuries sustained in the crash.

Officials say they could face multiple charges.
