HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A man was struck and killed Sunday morning by a hit-and-run driver in Hollywood.

The crash occurred near Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar Avenue, a watch sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division.

Paramedics were dispatched to the location at 4:32 a.m., in response to an "auto versus pedestrian" call, the sergeant said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Fred Corral of the coroner's office.

The victim was later identified by the coroner's office as Robert John Ryan, 24, of Oxnard.
