Murrieta Valley High School Teacher, 44, Accused Of Sexual Relationship With Male Student

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities in Murrieta said they were tipped off  late last month about an inappropriate sexual relationship between a female high school teacher and her male underage student.

The teacher at Murrieta Valley High School -- identified as Shannon Fosgett -- turned herself into authorities on Friday.

Detectives have interviewed the minor.

The unidentified student told officials that Fosgett, a 44-year-old resident of Murrieta, began showing interest in him about a year ago.

He told them the relationship started with after-hours texting and escalated into oral sex and ultimately intercourse.

According to the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Fosgett resigned from her teaching position this past Wednesday.

After being arrested, Fosgett was charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 18 and two counts of oral copulation with a minor.

Fosgett was booked at the Southwest Detention Center.
