US Women's National Team Will Face Ireland To Open 2016 Season

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The US Women's National Soccer Team will open the 2016 season with a match against the Republic of Ireland on January 23th at Qualcomm Stadium.

The game will be an important evaluation game for head coach Jill Ellis, who will have to select her 20-player Olympic qualifying roster shortly after the game.

Kickoff for the game is expected to be at 2 p.m PT, with tickets going on sale beginning on December 10th.

Fans can purchase tickets online through ussoccer.com, or by phone by calling 1-800-745-800.

The US is 10-0-0 all-time against Ireland, most recently defeating the Irish twice in 2012.

US Soccer is also offering a four-day Girls Fantasy Camp in conjunction with the game from January 21st-24th, for girls born in 2001, 2002, or 2003.

The Camp is a fundraiser to support US Soccer development initiatives, and includes a tax-deductible donation.
