Hundreds Volunteer For Thanksgiving At Fred Jordan Mission In Skid Row

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — It's your typical Thanksgiving feast... times a thousand.

The Fred Jordan Mission in downtown Los Angeles rolled out the turkey and stuffing to those in need on Thursday.

Volunteers worked overnight to prepare the mission for the thousands of visitors it would welcome.

Holly Wells arrived on Wednesday afternoon in order to help with the set-up.

"They're so thankful." Wells said.

"And I feel like saying - no , thank you for letting me come down and serve you," she added.

In all, 900 volunteers prepared and served this year's thanksgiving feast.

Gracing the tables of particpants was thousands of turkey legs, 500 pounds of beans, yams and stuffing, and a reminder that Thanksgiving is about more than just food.
