Altadena Man Suspected Of Sexually Molesting 8-Year-Old Girl For 2 Years

BIG BEAR LAKE (CBSLA.com) — An Altadena man faces charges of sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl several times over the past two years.

David Lynn Sandstrom, 51, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of illegal sexual acts with a child under the age of 10 by detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Big Bear station.

Authorities say the investigation into Sandstrom began in August. An initial investigation by Los Angeles police officers found that Sandstrom allegedly committed crimes against the girl in Valencia and at a rental cabin in Big Bear Lake.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Sandstrom's home in Altadena on Nov. 5 and seized evidence, including his electronic devices, officials said. Sandstrom was not home at the time of the search, and officials say he evaded detectives' attempts to find him.

After a warrant was issued for his arrest, Sandstrom turned himself in Wednesday morning at Sheriff's Headquarters in San Bernardino. He was taken into custody and booked on several felony sex charges and held on $1 million bail.

Sandstrom's is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Nov. 19.

Anyone with information about Sandstrom or the crime can contact Detective Justin Giles at (909) 866-0100.
