Veterans Day Observances To Be Held Throughout Southland

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Government offices, courts, the post office and most banks will be closed Wednesday as the country honors our veterans.

Students will also have the day off from school across Southern California.

MTA buses and Metro trains will run on schedule.

The following observances are planned to honor Veterans Day across the Southland:

— Spotlight 29 Casino will provide a free breakfast for members of the military with valid ID, beginning at 6 a.m.

— At 9 a.m., the city of La Quinta will honor 31 veterans during its celebration at the City Hall courtyard

— The city of Indian Wells will host its annual ceremony at 10 a.m., located at the Eisenhower Walk of Honor

— At 11 a.m., the city of Palm Desert will celebrate by featuring speeches from current and former service members along with a patriotic jazz concert at Civic Center Park

— The 19th annual city of Palm Springs Veterans Day Parade will be held at 3:30 p.m., beginning at Palm Canyon Drive and Ramon Road

— The city of Murrieta's 13th annual Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m., located near Ivy Street and Washington Avenue

— Authorities will honor veterans in Menifee at 10 a.m. during a service held at Wheatfield Park

— A veterans salute is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery

— In Moreno Valley, the eighth annual Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Veterans Memorial located outside the Civic Center

— A salute to veterans is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Civic Center quad in Temecula
