3 Men Found Inside Torched SUV In Orange; Suspect At Large

ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Police continued to investigate the deaths of three men Tuesday who were found inside a torched SUV in Orange.

The burning SUV was found around 2:15 p.m. on Monday, located in a residential driveway in the 500 block of East Oakmont Avenue near Shaffer Street, according to the Orange Police Department.

Officers said the bodies of three adult men were discovered after the fire was extinguished.

According to investigators, two of the victims were located in the back of the vehicle and the third man was found sitting in the passenger seat.

No one was located in the driver's seat of the car.

Paramedics pronounced all of the men dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending family notification.

At this time, it remains unclear where and how the victims died.

Residents in the area told detectives they had never seen the SUV on their block before.

A witness reported seeing the burning vehicle coast down the street before it struck a curb and stopped in the driveway. Someone then fled on foot from the fiery crash.

"I saw it at like 2:12, and I got very nervous and confused, and so I started shouting, and I called 9-1-1," witness Nazrene Khan said.

Officers immediately searched the area; however, no suspect was found.

A license plate on the vehicle revealed it is registered to a car dealership in Ontario. Detectives have not yet confirmed if the plates were switched prior to the incident.

Detectives stressed they do not believe the neighborhood was specifically targeted.

Anyone with information regarding this case has been urged to contact the Orange Police Department (714) 744-7444.
