2 Hospitalized After Big Rig Crashes On 5 Freeway In Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Two victims were hospitalized Tuesday for treatment of injuries sustained in a traffic collision in Boyle Heights.

The accident took place just before 2:30 a.m., located on the southbound 5 Freeway near Soto Street, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a semi-truck lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a guardrail and landed on the off ramp of the freeway.

Paramedics transported the driver of the big rig and a passenger to a local hospital.

At this time, the off ramp remains closed.

Officers said the closure is not currently affecting freeway traffic.
