Plea For Help Finding Stolen U-Haul Filled With Priceless Keepsakes From Families Of Murdered Children

SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) – There is desperate plea for help in finding a stolen U-Haul truck full of priceless keepsakes from families of murdered children.

A charity called Justice for Murdered Children uses those items to help raise awareness about the impact unsolved murders have on grieving families.

"Just give us our stuff, please! Just give it back!" cried LaWanda Hawkins of Justice for Murdered Children. "How dare you take the pictures and stuff? Do you know what that did to us?" she asked angrily.

Those items in the stolen truck include photos and shoes of murdered children, along with brochures, banners, buttons and other supplies the group had compiled for a weekend fundraiser. They are worth next to nothing monetarily but are priceless to the families who donated them.

"They're little baby shoes, 3- or 4-month-old babies. We wrote little notes. They might have drew a little pictures. We want those back," Hawkins pleaded.

She said she parked the U-Haul in the 4300 block of South Miraleste Drive in Rancho Palos Verdes at 11 p.m. Wednesday. When she came out 12 hours later, the U-Haul was gone.

"Just give us our stuff. We didn't do nothing to you!" she pleaded.

She needs your help getting  back the stolen items that cannot be replaced.

The stolen U-Haul has an Arizona license plate: AD51839. If you have seen it, call (310) 883-8933.
