Pasadena Woman Followed Home By Robbery Suspects, Tips Off Police

PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — An alert woman who noticed she was being tailed on the way to her Pasadena home led to the arrest of two suspects, including a 23-year-old parolee, according to police.

A woman in her 30s called police from her vehicle just after midnight Sunday to report she was being followed by a gray Ford Focus, according to Lt. John Mercado of the Pasadena Police Department.

She told police the vehicle had followed her from an area near Lake Avenue and California Boulevard to the 1400 block of Rose Villa Street, where she pulled over while talking to police.

The Ford also stopped near her vehicle, police said.

Within seconds after she arrived home, officers arrived and located the Ford Focus, Mercado said. They found a head-covering that could be used as a mask and a loaded .40-caliber handgun, said Mercado.

Police say it's believed the suspects followed the victim home to commit a robbery. The victim did not know the two male suspects, according to police.

Parolee Christopher Jevon Savery, 23, of Hawthorne and Cory Marquell Hartfield, 19, of Las Vegas were booked for suspicion of robbery, Mercado said. Savery was also accused of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms.

Investigators later went to Savery's home in Hawthorne, obtained a warrant, and found a stolen shotgun, shotgun shells,
and an additional loaded magazine for the handgun, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

Savery was held without bail pending his initial court appearance. Hartfield was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
