Fire Crews Knock Down Pacific Palisades Brush Fire

PACIFIC PALISADES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles firefighters were able on Sunday morning to get a handle on a stubborn vegetation fire that burned below the oceanfront bluffs in Pacific Palisades.

It took 104 firefighters a total of 3 hours and 28 minutes to put out the two-and-a-half acre fire, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

It burned trees and brush above Pacific Coast Highway, south of Temescal Canyon Road.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 2:59 a.m. and will continue the mop up effort this morning, Lenske said.

No injuries were reported and there was no structure loss.

By 8 a.m., PCH had been reopened, with two of the three northbound lanes blocked by fire trucks.

The brushy area is a frequent site for homeless encampments, and warming fires are often seen there in colder weather, firefighters said.
