Orange County Sheriff's Need Public's Help To Nab Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run

STANTON (CBSLA.com) —  Orange County Sheriff's investigators are hoping the public can help them track down the driver in a fatal hit-and-run Thursday evening.

Deputies were called to Beach Boulevard, just south of Orangewood Avenue, around 10:45 p.m. following reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

On arrival, deputies found the victim -- William Soane Ye, 62, of Anaheim -- lying in the roadway suffering from significant traumatic injuries.

City News Service reported that Ye would have turned 63 Friday.

Deputies immediately began lifesaving measures. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead.

Based on a preliminary investigation, officials said Ye was struck by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard.

Due to a lack of witnesses to the collision, investigators do not have additional details. Signals and/or crosswalks do not appear to be factors as the collision occurred mid-block.

Authorities said "numerous car parts" were left behind from the suspect vehicle but at this time they have not determined the car's make or model. Investigators believe the vehicle has front end damage, including the headlamps.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department's Major Accident Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this vehicle and/or driver is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Traffic Bureau at (714) 647-7000 or (949) 425-1860. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org.
