South LA Man Arrested For Allegedly Making Social Media Threats On Fresno State Campus

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former South Los Angeles high school football star faced charges Tuesday for allegedly making social media threats at his university.

California State University, Fresno freshman Christian Pryor, 18, posted an anonymous message to an app called Yik Yak on Monday, according to the Fresno Police Department.

The threatening message explained Pryor planned to "release his frustrations" as he was "tired of receiving dirty looks and rejection."

The message went on to say he would "use an M4 Carbine to take a head shot at a hot blonde."

The university did not cancel classes.

However, after campus officials issued an email warning to faculty and students, some professors chose to cancel class on their own.

Campus police, local authorities and the FBI tracked Pryor down within two hours after the message circulated.

He was arrested in the Athletic Department offices on campus, the Fresno State News reported.

No weapons were found on his possession when he was taken into custody.

According to the Fresno police chief, Pryor has admitted to sending out the threatening message. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of terrorist threat in conjunction with a social media posting.

CBS2's Kara Finnstrom added he graduated from Locke High School. Pryor is on the football roster at Fresno State.

The motivation behind the threats remains unclear at this time.
