Police Arrest Woman In Connection With Theft At Burbank School

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — A woman suspected of stealing money from a teacher's purse at a Burbank school has been arrested, police said Thursday.

According to the Burbank Police Department, property detectives arrested a person of interest in the case after serving a search warrant on Wednesday morning.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 7, an unknown woman was captured on surveillance video entering the campus of Bret Harte Elementary School, located in the 3200 block of Jeffries Avenue.

Officers said the woman proceeded to steal a credit card along with cash from a teacher's purse, which was located inside of an unoccupied classroom.

She then used the credit card to make purchases at stores in Glendale and Burbank.

According to police, the suspect is not a parent of a child who attends the school.

She is suspected of committing a second theft on the campus of Emerson Elementary School in Burbank.

Detectives have not yet released the suspect's identity as they are working to solidify the case.

She has been booked on the warrant, however, she wasn't immediately charged in connection with the school theft.

The investigation is ongoing.
