Caught On Camera: Woman Steals Credit Card, Cash From Teacher's Purse In Burbank

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Police sough the public's help Thursday to identify a woman who stole money from a teacher's purse located inside a classroom of a school in Burbank.

Around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 7, an unknown woman gained entry to Bret Harte Elementary School Campus, located in the 3200 block of Jeffries Avenue, according to the Burbank Police Department.

Surveillance video captured the woman walking into an unoccupied classroom where she proceeded to steal a credit card and cash from a teacher's purse.

According to police, the woman then used the credit card to make purchases at stores located in Glendale and Burbank.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspect is not a parent of a child who attends the school. Authorities determined she also had no legitimate reason to be on the school's property.

Detectives described the suspect as an African American woman believed to be between 30 to 40-years-old. She was last seen wearing a white tank top.

The investigation is ongoing.
