Airline Creates Jet Modeled After 'Star Wars' Character R2-D2

(CBSLA.com) — "Every journey through the sky should be an entertaining one," says an airline which has created a "Star Wars" themed airplane.

All Nippon Airways says the Dreamliner is modeled after the famous R2-D2 character and was completed at a Boeing factory in the U.S., according to its website.

The jet, which was unveiled in April, landed in Vancouver over the weekend.

"The ANA Star Wars Project will transform your travels beyond your wildest imagination. May the Force be with you," the airline added on its site.

Other scheduled but tentative flight routes include San Jose in mid-October to late-November and Seattle in early-December.

The latest film in the "Star Wars" series, "The Force Awakens", has been making headlines Monday as tickets went on sale, while the film's trailer was released. Hundreds of fans flocked to downtown Disney in Anaheim to watch the trailer and purchase their tickets.

The film, which comes out in theaters on Dec. 18, is expected to bring in over $600 million during opening weekend.
