Johnson opened up about his good friend while at the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles Builders Ball in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night.

"Our game was similar. Big man that can handle the ball, make things happen, so then when he got with the Lakers, we became really good friends," Johnson said. "He came to me and asked me a lot of great questions about investigating, about everyday life."

While much of Odom's life has played out on television, players say it's a shock he's fallen this far.
