Recap: Dodgers Use Late Game Heroics To Even NLDS With Mets

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Down one game to none in the series, the Dodgers turned to pitcher Zack Greinke to right the ship against the Mets.

Greinke hit a bump in the road in the 2nd inning, surrendering solo home runs to Mets outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and Michael Conforto, which put the Mets ahead 2-0.

It was the first time all season that Greinke had allowed two home runs at home this season.

The Dodgers got on the scoreboard in the 4th inning thanks to back-to-back doubles from Justin Turner and Andre Ethier, cutting the Mets lead down to 2-1.

Zack Greinke would fly out with men on first and second base to end the Dodgers threat in the 4th inning.

Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard was spectacular, throwing 115 pitches while striking out 9 Dodgers in 6 1/3 innings pitched.

Kike Hernandez drew a walk in the 7th and proceeded to steal second base. Syndergaard was then removed in favor of Bartolo Colon.

Chase Utley pinch hit for Zack Greinke and stroked a single into right center, moving Hernandez to 3rd base.

Howie Kendrick then hit a slow roller up the middle during which Chase Utley slid hard into shortstop Reuben Tejada breaking up the double play and allowing the tying run to score.

A cart was brought on to the field to take Tejada into the locker room for medical attention.

 

Terry Collins went back to his bullpen and brought in Addison Reed after Kendrick's RBI ground out.

Reed retired Corey Seager on a fly out to left, and then prompty surrendered a bases-clearing double to Adrian Gonzalez which gave the Dodgers a 4-2 lead.

Justin Turner then doubled in Adrian Gonzalez to make it a 5-2 game.

Chris Hatcher entered for the Dodgers in the top of 8th, and pitched a scoreless 1-2-3 inning.

Yasiel Puig entered the game as a defensive replacement in the top of 8th inning, and proceeded to

Kenley Jansen made just his third postseason appearence in the last two season to get the save for the Dodgers.

The series heads to New York tied 1-1.
