Only On 2: Attempted Jewelry Store Heist Caught On Video With Alleged Thief Trying To Hide Ring In 'Intimate' Spot

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dramatic cellphone video shot Thursday shows store security struggling with suspects they said tried to steal a pricey diamond ring.

The video was taken inside a downtown LA jewelry store around 2 p.m. Thursday.

The store is in the 600 block of South Hill Street.

CBS2's Jennifer Kastner spoke to the man who shot the video.

The video shows a blonde and pink-haired woman falling to the floor. Then security guards struggle to restrain her.

Just off camera, guards are struggling with a man in a white shirt. He moves into frame, and security is shown trying to restrain both the man and woman.

You hear a loud commotion and someone calling for 911.

The man who shot the video told Kastner he began filming when the man apparently fell to the floor, witnesses said, clearly faking a medical emergency. The man was making an effort to distract employees while the woman allegedly lifted a diamond ring that was on the counter.

The man who shot the video said the woman had been trying on rings. When the store owner allegedly saw the woman try to swipe the ring, he called for security.

The video also captures the woman trying to flee. But, not before attempting to put the ring (as Kastner phrased it) "in a very personal part of her body."

Store security was called and, Kastner reported, they proceeded to recover the ring from "the intimate hiding spot."

Later, the woman could be heard shouting, "Let go of me."

LAPD officers arrested the couple on suspicion of robbery.
