Murder-Suicide Victims Identified In Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA (CBSLA.com)  —   The Sheriff's Office on Thursday identified an adult female and an adult male they said were the victim and suspect in a murder-suicide inside a Los Olivos home.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Kimberly Lannette Hamilton of Los Olivos. She was shot to death.

Gregg Todd Hamilton, 50, of Santa Ynez, is identified as the murderer. Officials said he died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the firearm was recovered at the scene.

Both were found dead after police said they received a cellphone call -- just before 8 a.m. --  by a man indicating "a violent crime" had occurred at the location.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating what led to the tragedy.

Police said they had not received any 911 calls or calls for service to the home -- located in the 2200 block of Alamo Pintado Avenue -- in recent history.

Due to the active investigation, further details were not disclosed.
