Mother, 1-Year-Old Son Found Dead Inside Hollywood Apartment

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a woman and her 1-year-old son in Hollywood on Tuesday.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers found the woman dead on the ground and her child dead in his high-chair inside their second-floor apartment, located in the 1600 block of North Fuller Avenue on Monday night.

Officers explained her 2-year-old son was found alive inside the apartment, but was severely dehydrated. Hospital officials said he is expected to survive.

A preliminary investigation revealed the woman lived there with her newly adopted sons.

According to police, a friend went to check on the woman after she didn't return his calls. Authorities were notified after the an heard a crying child outside the apartment door.

KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO learned the woman was feeding her son at the kitchen table when she sustained a form of medical emergency that likely caused her to collapse and subsequently die.

Authorities believe she may have been dead for two days. It appears she died from a breathing issue.

Her son apparently panicked and then choked on his food, which resulted in his death.

According to police, no foul play has been suspected as the door of the home was locked.

The identities of the woman and her son have not yet been released.
