Hawthorne Car-To-Car Shooting Leads To Hit-And-Run Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A hit-and-run crash may have been the result of a car-to-car shooting, authorities said Tuesday, but no injuries were reported.

The incident began in Hawthorne, when one of the cars began pursuing another, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Joseph Williams said.

Two occupants of that car fired at the pursuing vehicle, missing, but striking the car and causing it to crash, Williams said. The car's driver was not hurt in the crash.

The post-shooting crash happened near the intersection of South Compton Avenue and East 118th Avenue in unincorporated Willowbrook at about 10:20 p.m. Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
