Armed Man Steals Cash From Gas Station Clerk In Ventura

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Police on Wednesday searched for an armed man who stole money from a gas station clerk in Ventura.

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers were sent shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday to the 2400 block of South Victoria Avenue, for report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Upon their arrival to a Shell Gas Station, authorities learned a suspect entered the store and walked up to the counter while displaying a handgun.

Detectives said the suspect demanded money from two clerks.

One of the clerks opened the cash register and handed an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect before he fled eastbound from the area.

Patrol officers unsuccessfully searched the area for the suspect.

Detectives described the suspect as a Hispanic man who is in his mid 30s, stands no taller than 5-foot-10 and weighs 225 pounds. He was last seen wearing black clothing.

The investigation is ongoing.
