LAPD Apprehends Stolen Car Suspect In Van Nuys, Woman Exits Vehicle With Child In Tow

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com)  —  Los Angeles Police chased a stolen car suspect from the Hollywood Hills to Van Nuys Friday ending with the suspect crashing violently into several vehicles.

When the chase ended, authorities said a woman -- with a young child in tow -- exited the suspect's vehicle.

There was no word on the suspect's condition or that of the woman and child.

A victim who was in another vehicle was being seen transported away from the scene -- by stretcher -- in an ambulance.

The chase wended through West Hollywood, Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills at high speeds.

At one point during the chase, near Van Nuys, the suspect sideswiped at least two vehicles and appeared to broadside another one causing major damage to the stolen vehicle and several others. Sparks lit up the night sky.

In the dark, it also appeared the driver might have hit a pedestrian. The driver also narrowly missed another pedestrian as the suspect ran through a red light.

The chase ended on Magnolia, near Sepulveda after it t-boned a Mustang, reported CBS2's Brittney Hopper.

The driver has been "erratic" and "reckless" throughout the chase,  Mundel reported.

The suspect went the wrong-way on several streets, blew through red lights and drove at excessive speeds on side streets.

Hopper spoke to one driver who was hit by the suspect.

"My first reaction  was to just look at my baby and see that my baby was okay. And we just froze," said Azisa Mughal. "Then I saw another lady run out of her car. We had no idea what was going on. My husband and I had no idea what was going on, we were just trying to get the baby out, we didn't know what was going on."
