Search Continues For Missing 16-Year-Old Girl In Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police continued to search on Thursday for a 16-year-old girl who has been reported missing in Redondo Beach.

According to the Redondo Beach Police Department, Emily Espinosa was last seen around 8 a.m. on July 22, walking away from Mira Costa High School.

Officers explained Espinosa, who is a junior, was attending summer school at the time of her disappearance.

During a preliminary investigation, officers learned she was upset about a recent breakup with her boyfriend, which led authorities to suspect she may have left with him to Idaho.

However, further investigation revealed Espinosa had not traveled to Idaho, police said.

Since her disappearance, family and friends have not heard from or seen her. Also, there have not been any posts made to her social media accounts.

Police said there has been no indication that Espinosa was abducted or forced to leave the school on her own will.

Detectives said she has short brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5-foot-8 tall and weighs 112 pounds. She was last seen wearing denim shorts and a maroon top.

Family members added Espinosa does not have a cell phone or money with her.

Authorities will hold a press conference at 10 a.m., located at Redondo Beach City Council Chambers, to publicize search efforts.

Anyone with information regarding Espinosa's whereabouts has been urged to contact the Redondo Beach Police Department Tip Line at (310) 937-6685.
