Home Surveillance Video Shows Coyotes Killing Cat In Riverside

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — After catching a gruesome coyote attack on camera, a Riverside man is warning his neighbors about the dangers that coyotes pose to the community.

Joe Maddot couldn't believe his eyes when he reviewed his home surveillance footage after noticing that his front yard was in ruins.

"My son and I got up Tuesday morning and walked outside like we do every morning to look around and see all the stuff was knocked over on our front yard," Maddot said.

"I went to the camera, and the first place we clicked, we saw the coyotes," he added.

The coyotes were seen on camera coming from the housing community's park, which also has a children's playground.

Neighbors with small children are being told to watch for the aggressive sightings.

"We're building everywhere. They're running out of places to go, I would imagine. They're out looking for food," Maddot said.

Madott keeps his two dogs and 5-year old son inside starting at dusk in order to protect them from wildlife.

The drought and new construction could be reasons for the recent increase in coyote sightings.
