Detectives Probe Fatal Shooting Of Man In Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A man has died after being shot in Compton and as many as four male suspects may have been involved, authorities said.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of E. Indigo Street just after 10:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The LASD said in a written statement that detectives have learned the victim, described as a 25-year-old black man, was approached by four suspects, described as Hispanic men.

"During this encounter, the victim was shot in the upper torso by the suspect," the LASD said in the statement.

Detectives said the victim ran toward Myrrh Street and Willowbrook Avenue, where he collapsed.

He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
