Second Driver In Deadly Rancho Cucamonga Street Race Crash Sought By Police

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Friday to track down a second driver suspected in a deadly street race in Rancho Cucamonga.

Witnesses told police they saw two black Ford Mustangs Wednesday afternoon, racing southbound on Rochester from Arrow Route before one of the sports cars crashed into a Nissan making a left onto northbound Rochester from Jersey Boulevard.

The Nissan, which was being driven by 46-year-old Julio Lopez of Pomona, was struck on the driver's side by one of the Mustangs. Lopez died as a result of his injuries at a local hospital.

One arrest has been made in the fatal crash, but police are looking for the driver of the second Ford Mustang, which is described as a 2000-2003 black Ford Mustang with a hood scoop.

The driver was described as a black man between 20 and 25 years old, about 6 feet tall, about 180, with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a diamond stud earring in his left ear. He was seen wearing a backward hat in the crash.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the crash can call Corporal Mark Addy at the Rancho Cucamonga Station at (909) 292-3890.
