Footage Captures Vehicle As It Crashes Into Liquor Store, Cars Before Ramming Into Salon

VALLEY VILLAGE (CBSLA.com) — Cleanup efforts were underway after police say a driver slammed into a liquor store, then reversed and smashed into parked cars before plowing into a salon.

Security footage captured the crash in the 4800 block of Whitsett Avenue in Valley Village just after 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Witnesses described the driver as a woman in her mid-to-late 60s and said she didn't appear to be impaired. She was uninjured.

The two businesses impacted had been boarded up.

"To me, it's a miracle from heaven. Nobody got hurt," said Gabriel Melmke of Gourmet Wine & Spirits. "I was not hurt. Especially in the beauty salon in which I know they work right there in the door. Nobody got hurt."

But Christopher Styles of Christopher Styles Salon said it was a close call for one stylist.

"She saw the actual car coming in, and so she alerted a client, you know that, 'Hey, move!' and so they ran towards the back," he said. "Luckily, they got away. The car stopped right where they were sitting."

No injuries were reported.

Police said they had no plans to arrest the driver at this time.
