Magnitude-2.9 Earthquake Hits Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A magnitude 2.9 earthquake hit Compton on Monday morning.

The quake struck at 9:05 a.m. with an epicenter located near three kilometers southwest of Compton, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Two minutes later, a magnitude 2.2 quake rattled in the area.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the USGS downgraded the magnitude from a preliminary reading of 3.2.

No injuries or damages were immediately reported.
