LAPD: 20-Year-Old Man Dies After Assault At Hollywood Club

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they are investigating the assault of a man that may have led to his death days later.

The Los Angeles Police Department says Jose Manuel Silva Nieves, 20, of Maywood was declared brain dead Sunday after a physical altercation at a Hollywood nightclub.

According to the LAPD, the incident unfolded Saturday between 12:15 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. at the Cashmere Club in the 1700 block of North McCadden Place.

It was there police say they responded to calls of a brawl.

Police believe Nieves had been involved in that brawl before collapsing at the club.

The LAPD said a cause of death for Nieves has not yet been determined and added that the case was being investigated as a "possible homicide."

Anyone with information on this incident was asked to call West Bureau Homicide investigators at (213) 382-9470.
