Uber Driver Robbed At Gunpoint While Waiting For Passengers In Fontana

FONTANA (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help on Monday to locate two armed suspects who robbed a 37-year-old Uber driver in Fontana.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, located in the 9800 block of Sierra Avenue.

A preliminary investigation revealed a man approached a ride-sharing vehicle, operated by an Ontario woman, which was waiting for passengers at a strip mall.

Detectives said the suspect pointed a handgun at the driver-side window and demanded money from the victim.

The victim then handed over an unknown amount of money and left the scene.

The suspect has been described as a Hispanic man in his 20s who has a thin, sunken face. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with a large "F" on it, according to police.

Officers said the victim was unable to provide a description of the second suspect who operated the getaway vehicle.

Detectives described the vehicle as an older model, dark sedan that has tinted windows.

At this time, surveillance video is unavailable for review.

Both suspects face robbery charges.
