SILVERADO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Monday worked to determine the cause of death for a 61-year-old fisherman who went missing on Irvine Lake.
According to the Orange County Coroner's Office, Clarence William Brumfield, of Palmdale, was identified as the victim on Sunday.
Around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, authorities learned Brumfield reportedly fell overboard from a pontoon boat while fishing with a friend on Irvine Lake.
Divers recovered his body near the location where he was last seen, located in 25 feet of water.
City officials explained a companion attempted to rescue Brumfield, however, he was only able to pull himself back onto the boat using the anchor line.
