Police: Man Who Offered To Pay Boy, 15, For Sex Act May Have Committed More Crimes

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of following a 15-year-old boy around the Rancho Cucamonga Library and offering him to pay for a sex act may have committed this crime before, police said Thursday.

Sean O'Farrell, 40, of Rancho Cucamonga and Solana Beach, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of contacting a minor to commit a sexual offense, Rancho Cucamonga police said.

O'Farrell allegedly asked the boy his age in the library's second-floor bathroom, before asking him some sexual questions and offering to pay him for a sexual act. The boy refused and walked away, but police say O'Farrell followed him out of the restroom and to several different areas of the library.

The boy became afraid and contacted a library staff member, who called the police.

When deputies arrived, they found O'Farrell inside the library and detained him. O'Farrell was also found to be in possession of several different library cards and is suspected of committing similar crimes in other jurisdictions, police said.

Anyone with information about O'Farrell or this crime can contact Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at (909) 477-2800.
