Deputies Investigate Deadly Stabbing In Compton

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 53-year-old woman remained in custody on Wednesday in connection with a deadly stabbing that took place in Compton.

Shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies were sent to the 14500 block of South Harris Avenue for report of an assault with a deadly weapon call, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned a 61-year-old man became involved in a verbal altercation with Ramona Annis, which escalated to a physical altercation.

Police said Annis is accused of stabbing the victim multiple times in his upper torso during the altercation.

Paramedics transported the man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Annis was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene. She is being held on $1 million at the Carson Sheriff's Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
