Grief Counselors To Assist Students, Staff Mourning Loss Of Two OC Teenagers

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Grief counselors on Tuesday will be made available to staff and students mourning the sudden deaths of two Orange County teenagers killed while camping at Yosemite National Park.

On Friday, two 14-year-old male students died after a tree branch fell onto their tent.

Steve Carrera, the victim's water polo coach, identified the teens as Dragon Kim and Justin Lee.

Carrera explained Kim and Lee were his beloved players on the Northwood Club water polo team.

Kim, a sophomore, was supposed to register for classes at the Orange County School of the Arts today. Lee was going to be a freshman at the same school.

Both students attended Pioneer Middle School.

According to the Mariposa County Coroner's Office, families of the victims have been notified, however, officials have not released their identities.

The Tustin Unified School District issued a statement that reads in part: "It's a tragic loss. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families during this difficult time."

Counselors will be on site at Pioneer Middle School and Orange County School of the Arts during the registration period today.

At 7 p.m., a candlelight vigil will be held at Northwood High School.
