Nearly 2 Million Flock To LA County Beaches This Weekend To Beat The Heat

MANHATTAN BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Nearly two million people escaped the heat this weekend and jammed Los Angeles County beaches.

"No! Really? I would not have guessed. Wow! I'm quite amazed," said Sabrena Clinton, a Las Vegas resident.

Officials report that about 934,000 people visited LA County beaches on Saturday, while close to 1 million crowded beaches on Sunday.

Nick Ishayan said it was 105 degrees in Northridge on Sunday, so he and his friends and family made their way to Manhattan Beach.

"Hot, hot, hot. 105 degrees in the morning," he said.

Manhattan Beach police said they encountered no issues despite the large crowds.

At the beaches of Venice and Santa Monica, about 30 people were stung by stingrays, officials report.
