Woman Fatally Shot In Car Parked Outside Of Home In Glassell Park

GLASSELL PARK (CBSLA.com) — A woman was shot and killed on Tuesday while she sat in a car that was parked in front of a home located in Glassell Park.

Shortly before 3 a.m., officers were sent to Isabel Drive and Avenue 33 for report of shots fired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult female, believed to be in her 30s, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

During a preliminary investigation, two men and two women were pulled from within the home for questioning in connection with the deadly shooting.

Two children who were inside at the time were transported to family members.

"We take these calls very seriously," said Capt. Jeffrey Bert. "We locked a perimeter down, and its a long block, so we had several units about 16 police officers and an airship coordinating the whole search."

The relationship between the victim and the suspects remains unclear at this time.

Authorities have not yet located a weapon at the scene.

Police have obtained a search warrant for the home.

No evacuations were ordered, however, police have asked residents to stay inside and be cautious.

The investigation is ongoing as the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

Police addressed the concern of an uptick in crime in the area. Today's incident marks the fourth unrelated homicide that has occurred within the past 10 days in the northeast division.

Isabel Drive will remain closed until further notice.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (323) 344-5701.
