A Stolen SoCal Gas Company Truck In Hemet Sparks Concerns

HEMET (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for the thief who stole a Southern California Gas Co. truck along with an employee jumpsuit in Hemet.

CBS2/KCAL9 learned the truck was reported stolen Monday night after a worker parked the take-home vehicle in the 100 block of La Amistad Way.

"I couldn't believe it because last night we had heard the dog was barking quite a bit, said neighbor Tony Williams. "And the only time she starts barking is when she hears somebody come up and down the street because she's right at the gate."

The gas company fears someone could pose as one of its employees using the stolen truck and the jumpsuit.

A Southern California Gas Co. spokesperson said employees carry official photo IDs, and customers can call to verify.

Also, SoCal Gas usually makes appointments with its customers before sending workers out. If someone shows up unannounced claiming to be a gas company employee, call the company immediately.

The stolen truck is a white Ford F-250 with a license plate: 8S80970 and an identification number: 3-8712. The vehicle doesn't have a GPS locator.

Anyone who has seen the truck is asked to call Hemet Police.
