Trio Of Burglars Arrested On Suspicion Of Stealing Nearly $60K Of Cosmetics From CVS

SEAL BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Three Los Angeles residents who allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of cosmetics from drug stores throughout Southern California remained in custody on Thursday.

On Aug. 1, Maria Rosa Sarmiento, 36, Teresa Hernandez, 29, and Miguel Angel Contreras, 35, were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $58,000 worth of beauty products from CVS pharmacy locations, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

Surveillance video captured Sarmiento and Hernandez stealing from the shelves at a store in Seal Beach.

According to police, the trio stole from stores located in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties since June 2013.

Sarmiento faces nine counts of burglary, Hernandez faces seven counts of burglary and Contreras faces three counts of burglary, authorities added.

The suspects may face charges in other counties as well.

Sarmiento and Contreras are both being held without bail.

They are scheduled to appear in court in Westminster on Wednesday.
