Police Release Images Of Man Accused In Attempted Sexual Assault In Granada Hills

GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday released images of a man accused of attempting to sexually assault a 62-year-old woman in Granada Hills.

Police said the incident unfolded late Wednesday afternoon in the 1600 block of San Jose Street. It was then police say the man attempted to sexually assault a woman after entering the home where she worked as a housekeeper.

Police suspect the same man of approaching another woman 10 minutes earlier as she was unloading items from her car. In that incident, police said the man asked that woman if he could go into her home and use her phone.

"Well, obviously he's dangerous. What my concern is it appears that his motive strictly of this individual was to sexually assault these two victims. They're both middle-aged, elderly women," Capt. William Hayes of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The homeowner, Alice Gratias, 92, said she left her housekeeper of 30 years alone in the home while she ran an errand when the incident occurred.

She shared the housekeeper's account of the incident:

"He just bounced in on her, knocked her down," Gratias said. "She got up and he was trying to kiss her and he knocked her down but she got up and she gave him a good kick."

The suspect was described as 5-foot-10 male who weighs about 250 pounds. Police believe he may be a transient who frequents the area where the incidents took place.
