WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — Authorities investigated a traffic collision on Wednesday that killed a 24-year-old man and injured another.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were sent shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday to Telegraph Road at Victoria Avenue for report of a solo vehicle collision versus a brick wall.

Upon their arrival, police located two male victims inside of a 2000 Honda Accord.

The driver of the vehicle, of Norwalk, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A 25-year-old man from La Mirada was transported to UCI for treatment of broken ribs.

A preliminary investigation revealed the Honda traveled westbound on Telegraph Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police said the Honda spun out of control, went through an intersection, over a sidewalk and collided with a brick wall.

The investigation is ongoing.
