Dead Frog Reportedly Found In Bag Of Organic Spinach Leaves

COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A San Gabriel Valley woman reportedly claims to have found a dead frog in a bag of prepackaged spinach she bought at a local big-box retailer.

Donna Souza, of Covina, says she was "disgusted" to see a pair of frog legs in a bag of baby spinach leaves she purchased from Northern California-based Taylor Farms, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Souza says she bought the spinach at a Sam's Club in Glendora. According to the label on the bag, the spinach leaves were reportedly organic and triple washed.

After reportedly making a complaint, Souza says she received a response from Taylor Farms stating that a malfunction with the company's harvesting equipment was likely responsible for the discovery.

A Taylor Farms spokesperson reportedly went on to state that the frog may have been concealed "behind a piece of spinach" from a laser sorter used to identify and remove "foreign objects" in the firm's products.

The discovery was believed to be isolated and a recall was not expected to be issued, The Tribune reported.
