Compton Pet Store Accuses 2 Girls Of Taking French Poodle Puppies

COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A Compton pet store has accused two girls of taking two expensive French poodle puppies in an incident the store says was caught on tape.

The unidentified girls are seen in the clip walking into Jazmin's Pet Shop. One of the girls is accused of shoving a puppy into her black bag, according to the footage.

CBS Los Angeles was told the French poodle puppies that were taken are valued around $700.

"This is the mom and these are the puppies," said Erika Carrera, who works at the store on Alondra Boulevard. "They still need their mom. They're barely a month and a half and they still drink from her and eat from her."

The shop says the girls had unlocked a cage when no one was looking.

Employees at the store say it's disheartening watching "teenagers disobey the law."

"And I can't believe, you know, that their parents don't teach them not to do that, and they just come in like as if it were their house, walked in, and grab them and just walked out," she said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirms its detectives are investigating the video.
